UK ring sizing
A ring should sit comfortably at the base of your finger and pass over the knuckle with gentle resistance. For the most reliable result, have your finger measured by a jeweller using a ring sizer.
How to measure at home
- Measure the finger and hand on which you will wear the ring. Check when your hands are at a normal temperature, and repeat the measurement at different times.
- Wrap a narrow strip of paper around the base of your finger without pulling it tight. Mark where the ends meet, then measure the strip in millimetres. This gives an approximate circumference.
- Check that the same loop can pass over your knuckle. If you are between sizes, choosing a wide band or unsure of your result, ask a jeweller to confirm the fit before ordering.
| UK size | Inside circumference (mm) |
|---|---|
| J | 48.6 |
| K | 49.8 |
| L | 51.0 |
| M | 52.2 |
| N | 53.5 |
| O | 54.7 |
| P | 56.0 |
| Q | 57.3 |
| S | 59.9 |
| T | 61.1 |
Reference measurements follow the British sizing chart in Cooksongold's technical guide. Conversion charts and ring profiles can vary slightly; this is a general reference, not a list of sizes available in every design.
Adjustable rings: check the stated size range for the design. Do not force the ring open or repeatedly bend it. Contact us if you need help with a particular style.
Choosing a necklace length
Use a flexible tape or a piece of string to form a loop at the position where you would like the chain to sit. Measure the full loop, or measure a necklace you already enjoy wearing from end to end, including its clasp. Neck size, height and pendant length affect where a necklace falls.
| Chain length | Approx. inches | Typical position |
|---|---|---|
| 40 cm | 15.7 in | Close to the base of the neck |
| 45 cm | 17.7 in | Around the collarbone |
| 50 cm | 19.7 in | Below the collarbone |
| 55 cm | 21.7 in | Further down the upper chest |
| 60 cm | 23.6 in | A longer layering length |
Understanding extension chains: a necklace described as 38 cm + 6 cm can be fastened at lengths of approximately 38–44 cm. A pendant may hang below the chain; check its separate dimensions. For layering, compare the full adjustable ranges of both necklaces.

Measuring for a bracelet
- Wrap a flexible tape around your wrist where the bracelet will sit. Keep it close to your skin without squeezing. You can also use paper and then measure it with a ruler.
- For a flexible chain bracelet, start with your wrist measurement plus approximately 1–2 cm for movement. Your preferred fit and the size of the beads or links may change the length you need.
- Compare the result with the bracelet's stated length and extension range. Bangles and cuffs need their own internal dimensions; a chain-bracelet measurement does not guarantee a bangle will fit over your hand.
| Wrist measurement | Suggested starting length |
|---|---|
| 15 cm | 16–17 cm |
| 16 cm | 17–18 cm |
| 17 cm | 18–19 cm |
| 18 cm | 19–20 cm |
These examples are fit guidance, not a guarantee. For example, the Mayford bracelet is approximately 16 cm + a 5 cm extension; compare this range with your wrist measurement and preferred fit.
